All natural soaps hand-crafted with only the highest quality organic oils. No synthetic ingredients, chemicals, artificial colors or fragrances, parabens or artificial preservatives. Animal- and Earth-friendly.
I support environmentally responsible companies, therefore, I avoid ingredients that are derived from genetically modified plants (Crisco and soybean oil). I make every effort to use only the finest quality, organic ingredients in my soap. While this may not allow me to have the cheapest soap on the market, it is as healthy and earth-friendly as possible. No artificial colors. No artificial fragrances. No Crisco. No soy products. No animal products*. *With the exception of my goat's milk soap, however, the goat's milk I use comes from local goat farmers who treat their animals humanely. Why natural soap?
People often ask me why natural soap? I try to be as healthy as possible, and while some things are easier to control than others, using natural soap allows me to be confident that I’m avoiding unnecessary chemicals in my daily skin care.
Think about it....you use soap EVERY day! At least I hope you do. If you add up all the chemicals that your body absorbed through soap in a year, it might scare you. No wonder we have so many skin problems and allergies! Why not commercial soap? Commercial soap consists mainly of synthetic chemicals and detergents which strip away skin’s protective oils - chemicals like Sodium Lauryl Sulphate, Petroleum, and carcinogens like Formaldehyde in shampoos, and many more. These added chemicals may create a nice scent or pretty colors, they are much cheaper and allow commercial soap to cure very fast, but they can be very harsh on your skin and cause lots of skin issues. Another problem with commercial soaps is that commercial production process removes the glycerin from soap - a humectant that draws moisture to the skin, and helps prevent dry, flaky and itchy skin. Companies can make more money selling glycerin than they can selling soap, so they remove it and sell it as pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. Natural soap retains 100% of its glycerin, making it much gentler and moisture-promoting to your skin. An alarming fact you should know about commercial soaps, is that many anti-bacterial soaps may actually contains the chemical Triclosan which has been classified by the EPA as a pesticide. The FDA is currently conducting an ongoing scientific investigation and review of Triclosan because studies have shown that it alters hormone regulation in animals. Triclosan is not just found in soaps but many products such as toothpaste, deodorant, cosmetics, toys, clothes, personal care products and more. Since your skin is your body’s largest organ, you should be very mindful of what you put on it. What goes on the body, is absorbed into the body. Read labels! Check out the ingredients. Chances are if you can’t pronounceit you may not want to be bathing with it. My soaps are made from the finest quality oils and butters. They are made the old-fashioned way (like our grandmothers used to do, with lye) and they take weeks to cure. I do not use animal fats, shortening, artificial fragrances, colorants or preservatives. I buy organic oils whenever possible and I try always to buy from reputable companies with environmentally responsible practices. When you buy soap from me you are supporting a small, family business with ethical values. My motto is - "Good for your body, good for the planet."
